Salesforce Platform Architect

Full time

Wilmington, NC or Remote

Ohanafy is seeking a Salesforce Platform Architect to own the technical direction of our Salesforce-based Beverage Solution. This role is for an experienced Salesforce architect who can evaluate the platform holistically, including data model, automation, integrations, and system boundaries, and make thoughtful architectural decisions that scale with our product and customer base. You will serve as a technical leader for our development team, guiding how we design and build on Salesforce, mentoring engineers, and partnering closely with Product and Customer Success. While this role is architect-first, you are expected to remain hands-on when necessary, validating architectural approaches, unblocking teams, and delivering foundational platform capabilities.

Platform Architecture & Technical Leadership

  • Own and evolve the overall Salesforce platform architecture, including data model, automation strategy, security, and integrations
  • Assess the existing Salesforce platform to identify structural issues, technical debt, and opportunities for simplification
  • Define clear boundaries between Salesforce and external systems, including when and how functionality should be offloaded to third-party platforms
  • Make pragmatic architectural tradeoffs between declarative tools, Apex, asynchronous processing, and external services
  • Ensure solutions scale across customers while respecting Salesforce limits, performance constraints, and best practices
  • Balance near-term delivery needs with long-term platform sustainability in a fast-moving environment

Hands-On Engineering

  • Step into implementation to validate architectural approaches, build reference patterns, or unblock critical initiatives
  • Build and maintain complex business logic using Apex, Flows, and Lightning Web Components (LWC)
  • Design and support APIs, integrations, and data pipelines between Salesforce and external systems
  • Own high-impact platform initiatives end-to-end, from design through production support
  • Review code and configurations with a focus on maintainability, performance, and long-term clarity

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Act as a trusted technical authority for Engineering, Product, and Customer Success
  • Lead design discussions and architectural reviews, challenging solutions that introduce unnecessary complexity
  • Mentor engineers on platform thinking, system design, and Salesforce best practices
  • Partner with Product to translate business requirements into scalable technical designs
  • Support Customer Success and Implementation teams on complex customer scenarios and escalations
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Engineering Excellence

  • Establish and uphold engineering best practices around testing, documentation, security, and observability
  • Influence roadmap planning and estimation by ensuring technical feasibility and architectural soundness
  • Continuously evaluate tools, patterns, and technologies that improve developer velocity and platform reliability
  • Promote a culture of thoughtful design, ownership, and continuous improvement

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of professional Salesforce experience with deep hands-on platform ownership
  • Demonstrated experience acting as a technical authority or architect for a Salesforce-based platform or product
  • Strong expertise in Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flows, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Proven experience designing Salesforce data models, automation strategies, and integration patterns
  • Experience building and supporting production-grade, multi-user Salesforce systems
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce limits, performance considerations, and security best practices
  • Ability to make pragmatic architectural decisions in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across Product, Customer Success, and Engineering
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or equivalent practical experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing or scaling SaaS products on Salesforce
  • Hands-on experience with integrations such as REST or SOAP APIs, middleware or iPaaS tools, and event-driven architectures
  • Experience supporting customer-facing implementations or complex enterprise customers
  • Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks such as React or Angular
  • Salesforce certifications, including Platform Developer I or II, Application Architect, System Architect, or equivalent experience
  • Experience establishing CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, or release management practices

What Success Looks Like

  • You are a trusted technical voice across Engineering, Product, and Customer Success
  • Platform decisions you make today continue to hold up as the product and customer base grow
  • Engineers seek your input on system design and tradeoffs, not just implementation details
  • Customers benefit from scalable, maintainable solutions rather than one-off workarounds
  • You balance speed with sustainability in a startup environment

Perks & Benefits

  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • 5 weeks PTO, 11 company holidays, and 5 volunteer days
  • Opportunity to shape the technical direction of a fast-growing, early-stage SaaS company
  • Real ownership and influence over a platform used across the beverage industry
